POCACOV Tasks Parents, Guardians on Children Upbringing
The Police Campaign Against Cultism and other Vices (POCACOV), the Nigerian Police Force community policing initiative, has charged parents, guardians, caregivers amongst others to take responsibility and stamp their feet strongly on ground towards ensuring a sound and proper upbringing of a child for a better society .
This charge was given by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, while addressing participants at the Economic Summit and Expo organized by the Member Representing Okigwe North at Bonafide Hotel, Okigwe in Imo state.
According to Amaraizu ,POCACOV understands the role of parents, guardians and caregivers in the moral upbringing of children, hence, the activity tagged 'POCACOV in my family' aimed at reinventing the role of parents, guardians and caregivers in the moral upbringing of their children and considering the fact that the family is the immediate environment of a child .
Amaraizu further maintained that most of the things we are doing as adult now were not learnt in the school but from home, our immediate environment, hence, the need for parents to take responsibility in the upbringing of their children as this will help to stem the tide and cut the supply chains and conveyor belt of youths and children involvement in Cultism , substance and drug abuse , violent behaviours, bullying and other vices .
By taking responsibility you should know who is your child friend because of the influence of peer pressures and other things .The future of any Nation lies in the hands of our children and youths and we cannot afford to derelict our responsibilities .
'POCACOV in my family' is beaming it's advocacy and sensitizations towards enhancing parents ,guardians , caregivers ,Teachers as well as other Stakeholders and multi Agencies active participation towards problem solving for a safe , peaceful and secured communities.
The family is important to community development and the community is important to societal development and that is POCACOV in my community, The national coordinator further highlighted the negative consequences of substance and drug abuse and also as a catalyst to crime ,violent behaviours and Cultism as well as destruction of youth potentials and dreams and charged all and sundry to join hands with the Pocacov the Nigeria police force community policing initiative in the ongoing Nationwide campaign for a better society. The National coordinator POCACOV was accompanied to the event by the Chairman POCACOV volunteer club chairman Imo state ,Kennedy onwunali and the officer in charge of gender based desk at the IGP Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu ,Asp Adoh Nwakaego. On her part, the organizer of the event Hon Mrs Miriam onuoha of the Federal House of Representatives and representing Okigwe North stated that Nisral Ndlea, CAC, banks,film industries, online business partners made their presentations,
The National coordinator, POCACOV also appreciated the efforts of the law maker for taking the responsibility of the organization of the first ever Okigwe Economic Summit and Trade Exhibitions which is aimed at equipping participants with basic information ,skills and empowerment for strategic leadership direction.
