Owerri agog as Basketball classics set to hold in Easter
The annual Owerri basketball classics event is set to hold during the Easter holidays as organisers reveals. The competition will feature teams from the South East and South South.
The competition which will run from the 20th- 24th April, 2022 in Owerri, will attract great basketballers who are coming together for the first time in the state for the development of the game in the South-East zone and will feature 15 teams.
Recall that the inaugural edition of the classics, sponsored by chairman, Imo State Basketball Association, Mr. Kelechi Anosike, attracted 14 teams from the two geopolitical zones.
The teams were sponsored by eminent dignitaries, including Iyke Diogu and Kelechi Anuna.
According to the media coordinator of the competition, Kennedy Onwunali, the organisers have appealed for sponsorship support from corporate bodies and sports-loving individuals.
The teams include; Joyce Ekworomadu - Team Ekworomadu (Umuahia, Abia) USA; Ndidi Madu - Team Madu (Isuikwuato, Abia) USA; Adaora Elonu - Team Elonu (Okpatu, Enugu) USA; Chukwudi Maduabum - Team Chu (Utuh, Anambra) USA; Ike Diogu - Team Somtochukwu (Isiala Mbano, Imo) USA; Kelechi Anuna - Team Kelechi Anuna (Mbieri, Imo)USA; Stan Okoye - Team Okoye (Anuta, Anambra) USA; Ekene Ibekwe/Ifunanya Ibekwe - Team Ibekwe (Orlu, Imo ) USA; Obi Emegano, Team Emegano (Owerri ) USA; Legendary Francis Uzor, Team Orange room (Owerri); Orange Room Friend; and Kelechi Anosike, Team Kulupan,Ike Iwu - Team Iwu.
