Imo Football Stakeholders send S.O.S to NFF over Kelechi Nwakali

Football Stake holders in Imo State has sent an S.O.S to the hierarchy of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to as a matter of urgency, take more interest in the contract Standoff between Super Eagles International, Kelechi Nwakali and his Spanish Club SD Huesca.

Speaking in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, Mr Kennedy Onwunali, Mr. Kingsley Okeke, Miss Uche Opara urged and Nwachukwu Osinachi urged the football governing body to intervene on his behalf and save his career before it’s too late as this will also help in giving him a sense of belonging.

The midfielder was fined without pay for ten days by the Spanish Segunda Division Club after he reported back to the Club from the Africa Cup Of Nations in Cameroun.

Kelechi Nwakali made three appearances for the Super Eagles who crashed out of the AFCON in the round of 16 after a 1 nil defeat to Tunisia. He rejoined his Club ten days late and offered “a genuine reason ” for his lateness which was rejected by the club according to a statement on the Club website.

The midfielder, who has Captained both the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets who is dead ball specialist is expected to play a major role in the Eagles in the up coming games. According to reports, Nwakali’s contract with Huesca will run out this summer and he could walk away a free agent.

Meanwhile, reports reaching, wakawaka sports extra, from some quarters is accusing the Club of devising every trick to force the midfielder to extend his contract with Huesca which he rejected as he wants to move to a new challenge where European football is assured, which will benefit the Super Eagles as well.

Nwakali has so far made 18 appearances with two assists for the club this season.
