Hon. Ifeanyi Darlington commends Ikukuoma foundation, says glory days in sports will be restored in Ezinihite/Ahiazu Mbaise Federal Constituency.
Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for the 2023 election for Ahiazu/ Ezinihite Mbaise Federal Constituency, Hon Ifeanyi Darlington, has commended Ikukuoma Foundation for putting up a superlative performance at the final of the tournament last weekend at Ezeagbogu Ezinihite Mbaise.
The 2022 final which featured teams from the three Local Government Areas of Mbaise, had in attendance Hon. Darlington who was present at the final between Ibeku Nguru and Obizi Mbaise which ended 2-0 in favour of the Nguru team.
The game decided at the newly constructed Ezeagbogu Stadium was built by the founder of the foundation High Chief Summers Nwokie Akaji Ikuku one.
Hon. Darlington who is contesting for the position for the second time said he had planned four years ago on how to develop the area through sports but regretted that sports which is one of the main resources of the area has been reduced to nothing.
He equally noted that the area produced the first Nigeria Olympic Gold Medalist Acp Chioma Ajunwa Opara, first Nigeria Women National Team Coach, Uche Eucharia, Chairman Imo State Football Association and former CAF Committee member, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, former Chairman Iwuanyawu National Football Club, Chief Ignatius Okeahialam, which are Nigeria's first generation, Coach Issac Nnado former Green Eagles player Mr Jonny Nwadioha and the founder of Rivers Angels Nze Larry Eze late etc.
The House of Reps candidate added that the area should produce great sports men to take over from them, which necessitated him to put together a committee with his campany organization to study the sports potential of the area and ensure that the come up with a blue print on how to revisit the development of all sports in the area with the view to channeling funds for the development of sports after the election with the private sector next year.
Hon Darlington also used the opportunity to congratulate in advance two sons of the area, Mazi Uchegbulam and Mr Benedict Akwuegbu who are gunning for the September 30th election into the office of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation.
He described them as good ambassadors of the area, state and country in their previous assessments at CAF Committee where Uchegbulam displayed high level of service to Africa and Akwuegbu who was a good representative for the Super Eagles and his club in Europe and Australia where he was nicknamed the Australian Bombay because of his performance at the Australian top club.
He went further to disclose that the people of the area will hold a party to welcome them back home after their victory while urging all the people of the area to give him the opportunity to prove that Ezinihite/Ahiazu can become another enviable story.
