The Nwajiuba's and Mberede's become in-laws as Chijioke weds Chidiadi
Saturday 11th December 2021, was a memorable day for both the Mberede family from Akeme Ikpa okoli, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA and the Nwajiuba Family of Umuezealla Nsu, Ehime Mbano LGA both in Imo State as the children performed the traditional wedding ceremony in grand style.
The Igbo culture hold traditional marriages in high regards and the traditional rites attached to the union aren't taken lightly by families involved.
The Igbo Traditional marriages are deemed very festive, colorful and are divided into four main parts.
1. Marriage inquiry known as 'Iku aka' or 'Iju ese'
2. Seeking consent from the bride-to-be extended family known traditionally as 'Umunna'
3. Bride price negotiation and payment known as 'Ime ego'
4. Wine-carrying ceremony by the bride known as 'Igba Nkwu Nwanyi' and 'Idu Uno'
All these must be completed and the bride’s people must be satisfied before the groom can take away his new wife home.
The groom Dr. Chijioke Mberede and the bride Dr. Chidiadi Nwajiuba gathered family, friends and well wishers together to be witnesses on their special day.
The event was held at the Palatial Country home of Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba in Umuezealla Nsu, Ehime Mbano. It started with the presentation of Oji by Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba who is the father of the bride to the traditional ruler of the Umuezealla HRH Eze Iwuji to welcome the two traditional rulers from Arondizuogu.
The Oji was well received by HRH Eze Oliver Dike (Eze Ozuomba Awa Izuogu) in the presence of HRH Eze (Barr) Mike Nwosu (Ugo Ocha 1 of Ugo Ocha).
The parents of the couples were given time to welcome their guests accompanied by live band music. Engr. and Mrs. Laz Mberede, parents of the groom led the way while Prof. and Prof. (Mrs.) Chinedum Nwajiuba followed.
Having completed all the traditional requirements, it was time for Chidiadi to show all the guest her husband, she was accompanied by her beautiful asoebi girls as she was handed a glass of palm wine by her father and she was able to locate her heart rob to the glare of all.
The parents of the couples all had their turns to bless their children in full emotional outpouring. Afterwards it was all dance and rain of money as is of public reckoning.
In the presence of all, Dr. Chijioke Mberede and Dr. Chidiadi Nwajiuba became Dr. and Dr.(Mrs.) Chijioke Mberede.
The occasion was graced by dignitaries from all works of life, In attendance was the traditional ruler of Akeme Izuogu, Eze Mike Nwosu (Ugo Ocha 1 of Ugo Ocha), HRH Eze Oliver Dike ( Eze Ozuomba Awa Izuogu), The VC of Alex Ekwueme University, Prof. Oge Elom ahis management team, The VC of Coal City University Prof. Afam Ituma, Hon. Chike Okafor, Member Federal House of Reps and a host of other dignitaries.
