The National Youth Service Corps has given concessions to married Women, pregnant and nursing mothers to be deployed to their husbands' places of residence.
The Scheme Director - General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known during a break down of the activities lined up for the commencement of camping activities for the 2021 Batch C Stream one orientation for Prospective Corps Members in the 37 orientation camps Nationwide.
He further said that pregnant women or nursing mothers must present for registration in addition to other documents, evidence of marriage, husbands’ identity and evidence of husbands’ place of domicile
The DG was represented by Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, stated that Covid 19 restrictions are still fully enforced during the orientation programs, saying that only PCMs and officials who test negative will be allowed into the camp. Noting that all the scheme's camps have been fumigated to avoid the spread of the pandemic.
The Director – General explained that the new policy was to ease the burden on the women, saying that the NYSC is “has a human face.”
“All married pregnant and nursing mothers not deployed to their husbands’ places of domicile can now proceed to the NYSC camps within their spouses’ states of residence but must present for registration in addition to other documents, evidence of marriage, husbands’ identity and evidence of husbands’ place of domicile,” the DG said.
“Compulsory use of face mask, 2-meter social distancing and other safety protocols are enforced in all our camps".
He outlined that "The hostel of PCMs are arranged in a way to reduce spread of Covid 19. Staggered registration of PCMs in batches is still in place to avoid overcrowding at registration points."
