Glamorous, Splendour, Magnificent, Grandeur, Glitz, flamboyance, stylish and the list of words go on and on.
The aforementioned words and more delineate the Diamond Jubilee Celebration party of one of Imo State finest gentleman and philanthropist, Sir Chief Chijoke Tassie, FPI, Lord Mayor. The exquisite party held at his lavishly superstructure in the beautiful city of Port Harcourt Government Reserved Area, GRA phase IV.
The Exclusive Party which was put together by the children of Sir Tassie to give Glory to the Almighty God for keeping their dad and breadwinner alive and in good health to mark this very significant milestone attracted dignitaries, personalities and extinguished guests from all sphere of life.
Speaking at the event,the visibly elated Celebrant thanked God for making him to clock 60. He took his guests down memory lane on how the journey has been for him. He recalled how difficult it was for him to the extent he couldn't pay for wedding cake till after the wedding some 30+ years ago.
He eulogized his wife for always standing by him despite all his short comings. The Lord Mayor thanked God for the kind of kids He blessed him with, saying that despite the fact that the three of them schooled abroad,they still came back to Nigeria. He prayed for more years to him and his guests.
The Owerre Nkwoji, Nkwerre Local Government Area born security consultant and businessman thrilled the audience to some great dance footsteps as the renowned Boogie Sound Bhend wowed everyone with some scintillating songs from their blasting speakers. The high point of the event was cutting of the beautifully built cakes by the Celebrant and his family.
Speaking to our correspondents, on how he feels being 60, Sir Chijoke Tassie said "I give God the glory ,I am actually overwhelmed that just like that,I am 60 already in good health and God's blessings".
On what attributes he has dropped with the passed years and the ones he will imbibe now he has reached the Diamond age, he said " Actually,what I have left with the passed ages is over stressing myself and being too worrisome about things of life, henceforth,I will want to let my mind be as free as possible, Whatever I can do,I will do and the ones I can't, I leave them".
"I have actually retired from active business, but not tired as once in a while,I still get myself involved in the business".
What difference between him now and of 20-30 years ago, The mayor said"20-30 years ago,It was struggling all over, restlessness, being easily agitated,chasing the gains of this world as if everything ends there. But now, honestly Speaking,I have discovered that the best way to live is to have peace of mind and that in turn gives a peaceful life. In as much as I will still be working hard,it won't be as before".
Lady Pauline Tassie,the beautiful wife of the Celebrant shared a moment with our correspondents, she said she has been friends with Sir Tassie for 32 years now, " I met him 32 years ago, unfortunately it was during his father's burial we met,we started talking from there and the love grew and we got married 29 years ago".
She said that he doesn't bear grudges,that his humility is second to none. She wished "my Godsent to me" many more years together with her.
When we spoke to some guests at the event,all were of immense praise for the Celebrant.
Chief Princewill Osigwe,the Managing Director of one of the leading Oil firms in Nigeria,Parflox Nigeria limited and who is a blossom friend of Sir Chijoke, described him as 'A Special Friend'. He recalled how they met many years ago at the Prestigious Government Secondary School Owerri,he recalled that though, Sir Chijoke was a year his senior in school,he was not in the habit of disciplining his junior ones as is the norm and that attracted him to Tassie.
Chief Osigwe told us that Sir Tassie was his sponsor during his wedding. He wished him the very best the new age has to offer,noting that Chijoke Tassie doesn't look 60 due to the level of work he has put in.
Describing Akunnia as 'The best brother ever' was Elder Arinze Tassie,the immediate younger brother to the Celebrant. He described their growing up as very challenging.
Elder Arinze described his elder brother as "A gift to his generation",noting that no one has ever come in contact with him and regretted.
Assorted food and exotic drinks were served. Barbecue wasn't left out as everyone ate to their brim.
All efforts to get the children of Sir Chijoke Tassie to speak to us were not granted as Nnadozie, Somkene and Alozie Arinze were very much busy ensuring that everyone was entertained promptly
