Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Thursday played host to relevant Community Stakeholders comprising Traditional Rulers and the 27 Interim Management Committe (IMCs) members of 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Governor directed that all the 305 Health Care facilities be renovated in order to meet up with their primary responsibility of being first line of Health Care delivery to the masses.
Senator Uzodimma assured Imolites of a hitch free Yuletide celebrations,He said that his administration will work to ensure that the rural roads are given Facelift before the Christmas time
Uzodimma said "Grassroots development remains instrumental to the repositioning agenda of our administration and in order to get it right once and for all, today, I had a Stakeholders meeting with relevant Community Institutions vis-a-vis the Traditional Rulers and Members of the Interim Management Committee (IMCs) of the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs)".
"Starting with the Healthcare System, I have directed the Members of the IMCs from all the 305 wards in the State to work with their various Traditional Rulers in identifying existing but non-functional Healthcare Facilities for immediate renovation, equipping and staffing. It is expected that this must be done within the week in order to commence work by next week and round off before the yuletide season".
"My meeting with these Community Stakeholders became necessary in order to close-up any eventuality of misappropriation of the project by any singular entity entrusted with the project. However, we have returned ownership of these Healthcare Facilities to the Community (including the reconstruction by engagement of indigenous contractors to be recommended by the Community) while the Government funds and equips the project".
"Next in line would be the rural roads and in few days to come, we shall engage the Community Stakeholders, once more, on the massive rural road reconstruction and other areas of critical infrastructural needs of our various communities". Uzodimma stated
