The Imo State Government in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a specialized Agency of the World Body that assists Nations in Economic and Industrial Development, has initiated an Industrial Policy for Imo State.
The event which held at the Imo Concord Hotel had as focused on engaging Stakeholders for the drafting of the Industrialization Policy. The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma pointed out that this would be an all encompassing industry policy for the benefit of all Imolites.
The policy which is geared towards strengthening the Imo economy to overcome challenges and reduce dependency on Federal Allocation, would result in resilience against any drawbacks.
With various policies and programs of the Imo State Government on Industrialization, this roadmap formulation in partnership with UNIDO, would complement on the later thereby giving rise to further improvements on the State’s ease of doing business - in translation, an improved economic stability for Ndi Imo.
The UNIDO Consultant in Nigeria, Dr. Francis Ofodire during his presentation stated that the Policy Initiative is the first of its kind in Imo State. He added that Governor Hope Uzodimma lead administration has indeed made a giant step in partnering with UNIDO for the development of the roadmap for the state as past administrations have failed to prioritize the right enhancement for the economy of the State and promised that he and his team will come up with a transparent and efficient policy for Imo State.
