FULL TEXT OF THE ADDRESS OF THE PRESIDENT OF SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR EQUITY ALLIANCE COMR EKEH IFEANYI CHIMEZIE ON WEDNESDAY 19th JANUARY 2022 CALL FOR A NIGERIAN PRESIDENT OF SOUTH EAST EXTRACTION IN 2023.
He stated this in the address below
Protocols,
1. Good morning Distinguished members of this organization and Ndi Igbo in general.
2. With Joy in my heart I welcome you all to a new year of divine accomplishment of God's purpose in our lives.
3. I am very pleased this morning to address you my patriotic brothers and sisters of South East region, as your servant under this noble organization "South East Youths for Equity Alliance". In our usual character, this organization through my humble self addresses the general members of this organization and the general public on the state of Affairs of the organization and the way forwards towards the vision, missions, mandates and projects of this organization. Therefore grant me your audience for this address.
4. First let me commend the supportive National working Excos, State Excos and Committee members who have been very committed to our course. In the same lights, I commend all members of this organization those in the national platform, various State platforms and South East people at large for their faith in us, supports, prayers and active participatory roles in the affairs of this great organization. As a child birthed for a purpose and service to our region, we keep growing by the level of nurture and supports derived by your distinguished personalities and inputs you make towards the growth of this organization. I therefore salute you all.
5. My unalloyed respect to our leaders of thoughts; politically, socially, economically, academically, spiritually, and security wise, who have been here with us, following, encouraging, commending, advising and making inputs to our activities, programs and plans in line with our vision, mission statements and goals. On behalf of the NEC, I doff my cap for you.
6. There is no gain saying that we as an organization is living up to the expectations as a political voice of South East Youths in agitating, struggling and fighting for the rights of South East region in the Nigeria political projects and we have in no little way redefined Youth organizations from the shackles of stomach infrastructure or hallelujah boys kind of Youth organization to a Youth organization with vision, directions and very independent of theirselves, reason we are waxing so strong without running around from one Politician to the other for self dependency.
7. Recall that this is who we are as an organization:
Short brief
SEYEA; SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR EQUITY ALLIANCE—Nigeria as a Tripod comprising of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, is united as one and guarded by Federal Character. But for more than two decades now, the entire Northern zone, South West and South South have marginalized the South Eastern part of Nigeria. It is on this note that SEYEA was birthed to agitate, Struggle and engage the Nation on the sanctity of Equity and Fairness in line with the principle of FEDERAL CHARACTER. Our greatest focus is on 2023 Nigerian President of South East extraction.
8. As our major Focus is defined to be 2023 President of South East extraction which history has it that we as an organization is the very first and the loudest voice that has raised the awareness and consciousness of our people to many of our leaders, organization and more especially the Igbo social cultural organization "Ohaneze Ndigbo gburu gburu". Our joy today is that our voice have been heard as Ohaneze Ndigbo and so many Igbo organizations, elder Statesmen, Clergy, Traditional leaders and our political bigwigs have queued and keen to this mandate.
9. We derived more Joy with the expression of interest by well meaning South East Sons to Contest for the office of the President Federal Republic of Nigeria which prominent among them, are those who have shown interest to run with the two major political parties of the Country APC and PDP. In as as much as we are not looking down on any political party, a good political analysis will tell you that Nigeria elections and it's Victories, majorly rest on the shoulders of these two major political parties of the country. Hence it is wise to make a reference to those who have declared interest to run on the platform of APC and PDP.
10. While Commending the likes of:
1. Prof. Kingsley Moghalu ADC
2. Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim PDP
3. Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa PDP
4. Gov. Dave Umahi APC
5. Prof Peter Umeadi APGA
Sons of South East zone that have officially declared interest to run for the President of Nigeria come 2023, we equally call on those who we have seen their body languages to contests, like;
1. Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu
2. Sen Rochas Okorocha.
3. Chief Ogbonnaya Onu.
4. Chief Ken Nnamani
5. Former Gov. Peter Obi. Etc to make haste when the sun still shines and declare interest.
11. We wish to fowl the statement credited to Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu that says he can only declare interest only when APC has zoned its Presidency to South East zone, while charging him and others that have same thought to declare interest immediately because no one waits on the fence for other people to get the job done first, for him to come and muscle it out with them. Your declaration now will be a plus to the subconsciousness we have raised so far in the Nation that South East people are ready and have people that are able and capable to contest and lead the Nation.
12. Let me at this point State and make a clarification to a certain thought "Why will So many South East people show interest instead of allowing just one person to come out as it is perceived in some other zones". It is a good sign, it show we have capable hands and out of which we can pick one person and consolidate with, to go for us in each of the two major political parties of the Nation.
13. As an organization, we advocate that; our elder Statesmen, Ohaneze Ndigbo, South East leaders Caucus, South East CAN, South East Council of Ndi Eze to come together with our various youth and women organizations in an Ime-Obi meeting and holistically cast a vote within them and choose the best person in each of this major political parties to contest on behalf of South East, consolidate on it and charge every other aspirant to queue in and support the decision taken and the person chosen.
14. We reiterated that this 2023 Presidency is DIVINE. Let no South East person take it as a personal interest or be selfish about it rather see it as a collective project and make Sacrifices where necessary. We must see this political project as a patriotic project to our region and for posterity sake. Let us build bridges across party lines and make reconciliations where there are political rifts. We are stronger together (igwe bu ike) and together we can move mountains (agbako aka nyuo mamiri, ogba ofufuru).
15. On that note, we charge all political leaders across South East Zone to call their political families especially their social media handlers to order. The name calling, slanders, backbiting, blackmails and social media wars between two political leaders or office holders especially those who have shown interest to run for the office of the President come 2023 must stop forthwith.
16. Let me particularly send a strong warning to Ebonyi State people who are in the senseless media war against each other in the name of fighting or defending any of these their two sons "Sen Anyim Pius Anyim and Gov Dave Umahi". The erroneous and careless destruction of image of these two Presidential hopefuls before the public in the name of political rift between the duo must cease. Ebonyi People should be grateful to God and appreciate what God has done for them by making these two notable South East sons that have shown interest to contest for the Presidency on the platform of the two major political parties of the Nation to come from Ebonyi State than making themselves tools of image destruction.
17. Having said that, let me plead with our people to remove the issue of discrediting our owns. Stop painting our Presidential hopefuls black before the Nation. Let's learn from other zones in that regard. I make bold to say that those that have led this Nation in the past, the person leading now and those showing interest to contest from other zones of the Country are not more Saints than our brothers From South East zone that are showing interest to contest for the Presidency. So why must we condemn our own and deny them the opportunity to rule this Nation? while those that are not better than them are shaded by their people and helped to win the seat and thereby keep subjecting us to second class citizens that have no right in ASO ROCK and also continue to suffer marginalization.
18. I think its high time time for everyone to wear the Igboness-cap of "Onye ahala nwanne ya", reach out to your contacts within and outside our region to support this divine project. We are naturally endowed with the power to influence, we must utilize that gift now to influence our friends, colleagues, mates and associates from other zones and regions to support us.
19. There is no two ways about it that Nigeria will Prosper more with a President from this region. We must support this project.
20. I therefore call on everyone to go register for his/her PVC, check on your family members, relations and friends to know those that do not have their PVC and encourage them to register immediately. This is the major way to support this project and the greatest tool to actualizing it.
21. To our Business Moguls and Igbo Billionaires, the time to do business with your own, is now. The greatest business you can do now is to financially support the presidential candidates from South East. I have heard people say "who among the South East persons that showed interest to run for the Presidency, has the money to match a particular aspirant from South West" and I just laughed because Ndi Igbo do not count on individualism rather togetherness "igwe bu ike". I know very well that when Igbo billionaires come together to support South East candidate, no region in the Country can match them.
22. Meanwhile let me express my utmost displeasure with Chief Chidi Idiga JAFAC who the news carried that he rushed to support the Yoruba man that declared interest to run for Presidency on the platform of APC with a donation of Private jets for his campaigns. In as much as I and South East Youths can not detect for him who to support or how to make his political business deals, it is important to call his attention and inform him to note that in the time when his people needs him for a collective project to defend the dignity of the region in the Nation at the appropriate time such as this political era, we shall record and remember him as one who back out on his people. It is not yet too let for him to make a U-turn.
23. Also let me use this medium to Call on our people especially those savvy with social media to stop the unnecessary discussion of that Yoruba man who is running for President because doing so, is just like promoting, campaigning and projecting him indirectly. Tinubu this and that as you discuss on social media is making him more popular than he is already. Hence I plead that you bring it down and stop sharing or discussing issues bordering on his name and his aspiration.
24. At this point, permit me to show my respect to all support groups projecting and canvassing for Nigeria President of South East extraction. In a special way I recognize and commend APC SOUTH EAST MANDATE (SEM), SOUTH EAST APC PRESIDENCY PROJECT and other support groups formed on the platform of APC canvassing for this project while urging PDP members in South East to raised such pressure groups within the party.
25. Once again let me call on South East Stakeholders in APC and PDP to insist and persuade their Parties to zone their Presidential tickets to South East zone
26. Let me inform us at this point that the Political Summit Committee set up last year, has gone succeedingly far in their plans. Therefore be informed that SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR EQUITY ALLIANCE will hold a political Summit on the road map to 2023 Nigeria Presidency where all aspirants from East, past and present political office holders from national to State levels, the Clergy, Traditional Rulers, Youth organizations, women organizations, Security Personnel and the media shall meet to discuss on how best to actualize this political project come 2023. The committee of the forthcoming Political Summit, is headed by Hon. Ikechukwu Isiguzor as the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Ambr Engr Paulson Onyejiawa as Secretary Central Planning Committee (CPC), Hon Osita Onuoha as Chairman Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Comr Kenkwo Kesaandu Kingsley as the Secretary Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
27. All State Chapters of South East Youths for Equity Alliance are hereby mandated to hold their first physical meeting of the year on and before 2nd February 2022 and report the outcome of the meeting to NEC with videos and pictures evidences showing the proceedings of the meeting. Any State leadership that fails to act accordingly shall be sanctioned.
28. No State Chapter, LGA or ward level Structure of SEYEA Or any Executive member of the NEC, State Chapters, LGA or ward level structures or any member of this organization shall endorse any political aspirant for, on behalf of or in the name of SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR EQUITY ALLIANCE without an express written approval from the NEC. South East Youths under this organization at the appropriate time, shall select a preferred candidate (the best hand) among those that have shown interest to contest and in line with the mind of the masses, ime-obi consolidated interest which we were part of, after due consultations.
29. I hereby approved for immediate implementation by the State Chapters, the agreement reached at the National meeting held in Ebonyi State last year, bordering on the registration of members, issuing of ID cards and dues.
30. Finally, I call for Supports of this organization by spirited and kind individuals on its programs and activities.
31. I do hereby flag off and express our readiness to meet, interact and familiarize with Aspirants and anyone who is in support of 2023 Nigeria President of South East extraction
32. While I once again, crave your indulgence, patriotism and full support to this divine project, I pray the Almighty God to continue to show His love, Grace, mercy, favour, protections and blessings upon you and your households in Jesus Christ's name, Amen
33. Thanks for your audience and Happy new year to you and yours.
Yours in the Service and Patriotism to our region
Comr Ekeh Ifeanyi Chimezie
President
South East Youths for Equity Alliance.
