Sir MacDonald Ebere reiterates his commitment to giving women a pride of place in Politics

The Imo State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Sir MacDonald Ebere, has reiterated his commitment to giving women a pride of place in Politics, especially during his current tenure as the State Party Chairman.

He made this known when "Udo diri Ndom Owerre Nchi Ise" (A social cultural Organization of Women married into any of the Five villages that make up Owerri Municipal), paid him a courtesy visit at his Office at the APC state Party secretariat in Owerri.

Sir Ebere said "The role of women in nation building cannot be over-emphasised. Over the years, women have been relegated to the background on issues of development, but not anymore.

"On my assumption of office as State Chairman of IMO APC, I gave life to to my mandate of giving women a pride of place in my regime by giving positions and issuing out responsibilities to female political faithfuls of the Party , with a view of getting them more involved in what we can call "participatory politics".

"Giving credence to the saying that "Charity begins at home" , I played host to the highly revered " Udo diri Ndom Owerre Nchi Ise"(A social cultural Organization of Women married into any of the Five villages that make up Owerri Municipal). Though their reason for the visit is on the platform of gratitude for my emergence as State Party Chairman of a ruling party and loyalty to the Government of the day , not forgetting the demands made by these enterprising women, I used the opportunity of the visit to bring to their notice the economic and political opportunities my office can make happen, raging empowerment and employment opportunities, to raising an endowment fund that'll cater for the needs of women, most importantly women who hail from Owerre Nchi Ise.

"Away from the promises made in the meeting , I asked them to vigorously and with tenacity support the All Progressives Congress and the Government of Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma , who even before his emergence as Governor has done so much for the People of Owerri Municipal especially by seeing to it that the expanse of Land at Area K belonging to Ndi Owerre was not stolen by past administrations and many other achievements of the Governor as it concerns the needs of Ndi Owerre.

"I won't fail to appreciate a Political Leader in the State Chief. Charles Orie(MD ISOPADEC), who joined me in receiving the women from my Local Government .

"Women and what they can bring to the Table is important for Nation building and so we must continue to support them."
