NO PDP CANDIDATE FOR IMO EAST, IMO NORTH- FESTUS OKOYE.
Amid Speculations trailing the withdrawal of the PDP candidate for Senate in Okigwe Zone, Emmanuel Okewulonu and the similar Ousting of the Party's Senatorial Candidate for Orlu Zone, Jones Onyeriri INEC has issued out an official communique to that effect affirming that the Party will only field a candidate in Owerri Zone.
In a Press statement issued by the National Electoral Commissioner for Information, Festus Okoye it stated that in line with sections 29 and 31 of the electoral Act, and having received a written copy of withdrawal by the Candidate for Okigwe zone issued through the State Secretary of the Party, the PDP stands voided from the ballot on the 25th of February 2023.
Mr Okoye additionally enunciated that accordingly, the decision of the Supreme court on the PDP Candidate for Orly Zone, Jones Onyeriri which held sway in line with the violation of section 87(9) of the electoral act by the party in the conduc of its primaries will imply that the PDP will not also be fielding a Candidate for Senate in that Zone.
Recall that the State publicity Secretary of the Party, Collins Opuruzor at the early hours of Saturday issued out a release denying the withdrawal of its candidate from the ballot. but the countervailing statement put forward by INEC some hours later has put to rest growing Speculations.
