Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Thursday, sworn in Justice Theresa Chikeka as the state’s acting Chief Judge (CJ). She replaces Justice Ijeoma Agugua.
Speaking during the swearing, Senator Uzodimma charged the new CJ to ensure she discharge her duty with sincerity and without fear. The event was held at Executive Council Chambers, Douglas House, Owerri, Imo state.
The governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma in his comment said: “It (inauguration) does not, in any way, signal demotion or undue elevation of any member of the bench; it is part of the continuing commitment to the procedural process in the appointment of a substantive Chief Judge of Imo State. Members of the bench and bar are all aware of these processes".
The governor urged her to work towards uniting the judiciary arm in the state. Saying her appointment is " A solemn call to duty".
Speaking after her swearing in, the new Chief Judge promised to use her wealth of experience to promote the bar in the state. She thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.
