At the well attended event held in Abuja to mark his 59th birthday,the former governor of Imo state and a current senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Rochas Okorocha urged Nigerians to give peace a chance for the growth and unity of the country. An elated Rochas who called his wife, all his children,grand children and in- laws on stage one after the other stated that he is "a strong believer in the project Nigeria", saying that the different ethnic/religious groups have to communicate more for a better understanding and tolerance.
He recalled that over time he has had cause not to believe in the unity of the country because of the many injustices he has passed through . "If there is anyone that should be crying everyday for the disunity of this country,I for one should be in the fore front considering so many obvious reasons,but no,I am a big crusader for a new Nigeria if not for anything for the sake of these my children and also children of Rochas foundation" he said.
The outspoken lawmaker said that he is ready to make peace with Governor Hope Uzodinma,"Yes,it is possible to make peace with Governor Hope Uzodinma",he advocated for support for the President Mohammed Buhari administration stating that the president despite the unfair criticism is doing his best to make Nigeria a better country.
While calling his elder brother to come on stage,he narrated how his elder brother took all the land left by his late father without giving him and gave thanks to God for making him a "big man today".
Senator Okorocha said he has the best home describing his wife as the best gift from God to him. He said for any body to be a good politician,the person must have be agood husband and father, saying he hasn't argued with his wife in the presence of his children before but does any quarrel at night when the children are gone.
The event was attended by current and past governors, serving and past ministers, lawmakers,members of the diplomatic community, the clergy, religious and students of Rochas foundation from all over the country.
