HON. DEACON CHIKE OKAFOR DONATES A BRAND NEW DIALYSIS MACHINE AND WATER TREATMENT PLANT OF OVER 60 MILLION TO IMO STATE GOVERNMENT
The member representing Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano in the federal house of representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor , today, took representation to another level as he did the unthinkable and perpetually inscribed his name in the history book of Imo State as the only man or individual to have donated a DIALYSIS MACHINE AND WATER TREATMENT PLANT to the government of Imo State.
The most symbolic and significant thing about the donation is that the Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) Orlu, has no functional DIALYSIS machine, according to the Chief Medical Director of IMSUTH.
Whilst handing over the Dialysis machine and water treatment to IMSUTH, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, disclosed that he was giving out the DIALYSIS MACHINE so as to complement the efforts of the 3R government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, for resuscitating and bringing back to life the Imo State university teaching hospital. He disclosed that for about 8 years, IMSUTH has been struggling without accreditation until the coming on board of Governor Hope Uzodinma, who was able to put both man and material resources together in making ensure that the teaching hospital where the sons and daughters of Imo State who are studying medicine are professionally trained.
He asserted that the Governor has shown leadership for being very pragmatic, responsible and responsive to the needs and plights of Ndimo, by providing the right facilities in IMSUTH Orlu, including medical and non medical personnel. He denoted too, that from facts available to him, that in the next couple of months, IMSUTH will begin to graduate Imo sons and daughters studying in there. Again, Hon. Chike Okafor, gave credit to the Governor for his achievements in IMSUTH and recapped that he was donating the machine in complementing his efforts in seeing that the teaching hospital is upgraded with the best of facilities, not just to teach Imo children but to give the best medical services to Imo people.
In his remarks, the CMD of IMSUTH Orlu, Dr Ifeanyi Nwamba, ably represented by Dr. Ebere Ibezim, poured encomiums on Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, for donating the brand new DIALYSIS MACHINE. He opined that DIALYSIS MACHINE is a very expensive machine, even in rendering services to patients.
He narrated that a patient with kidney problem needs about three dialysis sessions per week, and each session costs an average of N30,000, because, the dialysis machine helps the patient by performing the function of the kidney, filtering and purifying the patient's blood, removing waste and excess fluid from their body which gives room for fast recovery.
He thanked Deacon Chike Okafor for the great relief to IMSUTH, informing him that he has succeeded in giving life to Imo people with the donation of the machine, and promised on behalf of the CMD, that every Sons and daughters of Okigwe South, with any kidney issue, will be treated free of charge, and recapped that the DIALYSIS MACHINE will be judiciously be put to use by IMSUTH.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of traditional rulers including Eze Onyebuchi Obasi, Ezeala 3 of Alike, where the event took place, President Generals, political leaders both in LGAs and ward levels across Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
