GMDI canvasses for more support for women in politics

The Greater Mbaitoli Development Initiative GMDI, yesterday in the sprit of this years Christmas celebration met with the unshakable women for good governance led by Hon. Lady Amakachukwu

This is even as the group canvassed for the support and total empowerment of Mbaitoli women.

This is part of their social responsibility programme ‘Touching Lives Campaign’ which has run consistently since Hon. Emeka Ahaneku lost state Assembly elections 3 years ago.

Introducing the President of the organization, Hon. Emeka Ahaneku, the Director General of GMDI, Chief. Chibuzo uzoamaka Onwuzuruika, reminded the women that they are highly respected among other APC women and admonished them to never allow anyone to rubbish their hard earned reputation.

However, Chief Onwuzurike pointed that, “It also takes courage and conviction to do away with corruption; the gifts that are done to influence other people will no longer be there if the women decide to do it, and I am sure they are going to it.

Once we get elections right, we are hopeful that we will have credible leadership and right kind of people and proper position of power, and if right people are in position of power we assume that the issues of corruption and unemployment will be a thing of the past but it will take some time.” Chief Onwuzurike said.

The convener, Ezinwa Emeka Ahaneku in his speech urged the women to put their trust in God and not lose hope because of the harsh economic challenges ravaging the world due to the covid-19 pandemic.

He said, “We decided that in order to give back to the society, from the blessing God has given us. The problem we have in this country is that the rich are getting richer and the poor are poorer. We chose to come to the women because it doesn’t seem like they are been remembered in this season.”

He thanked the members of the group for their contributions to the progress of APC in Mbaitoli local government, saying, " we are here to know how you are, say thank ypu for gingering our party and to say merry Christmas and a greater new year."

Hon lady Amakachukwu thanked Hon Emeka Ahaneku and his team for honouring the invitation.

The GMDI shared various gift items among the women saying it's the groups little way of celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus with Mbaitoli women.
