The people of Amanze in Obowo Local Government Area, have reigned praises on the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for awarding and flag-off of the Afonkolo Amanze Road, the first road construction project that will take place since the inception of the autonomous community.

They also holds no barred in their appreciation to the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh, who facilitated the award of the road construction and ensured that the road was awarded to a reputable firm.

The Traditional Rulers present at the occasion, noted that for long the absence of good road networks in the community have been a pang to both human and vehicular movement. They further commended the Imo Speaker on his efforts in attracting Imo State Governor to the project and ensuring that it was awarded to a prominent son of Obowo.

Speaking at the occasion, HRM, Dr. Oliver Ohanwe, (Chairman of the Okigwe Elders Forum and Okigwe Council of Traditional Rulers,), described the project as a key development that will benefit Ndi Obowo..

Eze Ohanwe, who is also the chancellor of Ihitte Uboma College of Education, while thanking Imo Speaker, Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh, for his efforts in attracting Imo State Government to the project, said it is a project beyond politics. He noted that the most interesting thing is that the road construction was awarded to a great son of Obowo, Chief Engr Emeka Williams well known for his great philanthropy .

Commenting, Engr Emeka Williams, who is reputed for carrying out huge road construction for oil companies thanked Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh for recommending him to the Governor even when he never expected the job. He pledged his support for the 3-,R Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma and called on the good people of Obowo to lend their unflinching support to the Rt Hon Speaker, Barr Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh and Deacon Chike Okafor in their return bid to Imo State House of Assembly and House of Representatives. He promised to deliver the job October.

The Imo Speaker, Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Ibeh, ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Barr Kelechi Onyegbule,, stated that the epoch making event is unique in every way, especially as it is the first time in history that the Land of Amanze Obowo Autonomous Community, will witness road construction project by Imo State Government

The Chief of Staff recounted how traditional ruler of Amanze led a delegation to the Office of the Speaker on assumption of office and made a demand for the attraction of State Government's presence for the construction of roads in Amanze which the Imo Speaker specifically assured them of.

He explained that Mr Speaker has always believe that the development of Obowo can only be fully headed/manned by Ndi Obowo, hence he recommended a prominent son of Obowo, Chief Engr. Emeka Williams for the construction project.

He further enjoined Obowo people to ensure massive support for Imo Speaker Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Ibeh, for Obowo State Constituency and Rt Hon Deacon Chike Okafor for Okigwe South Federal Constituency, respectively. The representative of the Speaker finally led the traditional rulers and other stakeholders to the ritual ribbon cutting ceremony signifying the flag off.

Those who graced the occasion include: the Hon Commissioner for Housing, Lady Dr Love Ineh, HRH, Eze Basil Njoku, HRH BO Ihejirika. Also at the occasion were HRH Ubadire Barnabas (KSM) , Hon Dr Eli Dibia, Hon Jude, Arch Bishop C.O, Abazie, Chief Engineer Emeka Williams among other high net-worth individuals.
