Youths of Host Communities Pay Solidarity Visit to FUTO VC
...Pledge Unalloyed Support On Medical College
14th December 2021 witnessed what could best be described as remarkable and laudable, as the Host Communities of the University under the auspices of The United Youths of FUTO Medical School Host Communities (UYFMSHC) graciously called on the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti in her office during the working hours.
The Leader of the Group, Dr. Emmanuel Nlemchukwu told the University Management that they were pleased over the emergence of Prof. Oti as the FUTO 8th Substantive VC having painstakingly gone through her antecedents and background.
Dr. Nlemchukwu, began by strongly congratulating the VC, said they "verily believe in the competence and vision" of her administration, and further remarked reliable studies had proven that "women are naturally more humane, committed, resourceful and God-fearing" than their men counterparts in various fora.
Dr. Nlemchukwu stated it was not debated that such ongoing projects regarding the FUTO Medical College, if completed, would attract investors as well as give massive employment to their people, thereby alleviating the scourge of abject poverty that had been ravaging their land.
Owing to the foreseen numerous benefits attached to the aforementioned project, the Leader on behalf of the Group members, pledged their unalloyed support over the ongoing construction works on their lands, which had already been allocated to the University since inception.
While urging the FUTO Management to disregard any form of distractions, Dr. Nlemchukwu, however, pleaded that their people should be remembered in areas such as employment and admission, among others when the Medical College had eventually come to stay.
He equally asked the Management to set up an intervention mechanism to ensure those directly affected were duly compensated.
On his part, the Traditional Prime Minister (TPM) of Umuoma Community in Nekede, Nze Obinna Aharanwa said from the facts gathered so far, they were convinced Prof. Oti was not unlike a God-sent to the University, thus the essence of the solidarity call.
Nze Aharanwa therefore strongly enjoined the VC not to be deterred by any one or group who had a contrary view towards her administration's lofty motives.
Responding, the VC, Prof. Oti who could not hide her immense joy over the gesture, told the Group that she had come to serve FUTO towards ensuring the University get to enviable heights.
Prof. Oti, who was obviously emotional over the show of love, disclosed that the task ahead of her as regards building the Medical College coupled with a Teaching Hospital was enormous, hence expected every well-meaning individual and group to be supportive rather than distractive.
The VC went further to state that in the next two years, the said projects would guarantee massive job opportunities and adequate training of our young ones, not forgetting countless lives that would be saved via the Teaching Hospital.
She disclosed her administration was ready to attract various other developmental projects to the arena in question, hence deeply solicited the unflinching solidarity of the host communities and all concerned.
In his Vote of Thanks, the FUTO Community Liaison Officer (CLO), Pharm. Chidiebere Ajoku commended the VC for her well-articulated speech, assured that they would henceforth do everything humanly possible to support the new administration.
Pharm. Ajoku said it was obvious Prof. Oti's leadership meant well for the FUTO Community, hence deserved every needed encouragement.
The highpoint of the epochal meeting was the presentation of the Group's dress-code comprising a face-cap, T-shirt and a muffler as well as a well-designed Banner, signifying their support for the ongoing projects, by the Group Leader to the VC.
