The Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodinma played host to Confidence Chinaza Nwozuzu who clinched all A's in the 9 subjects she sat for in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) 2020 exam.
The Governor praised her for bringing honour to the state and reiterated his administrations commitment to always recognize and encourage such notable honours from Imolites.
"We shall continue to recognize and encourage Imolites that bring honour to the State by distinguishing themselves in most remarkable ways. Confidence Chinaza Nwozuzu from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State has indeed brought honour to the state with her outstanding performance of 9As from the 2020 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)" the governor said.
According to WAEC head of National office, 1,549,740 candidates registered for the 2020 examination while 1,538,445 candidates eventually sat for the examinations.
The examinations also saw 780,660 of the candidates being male while 757,785 were female representing 50.74 percent and 49.26 percent respectively. A total of 1,338,348 candidates obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects – with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
Senator Uzodinma while acknowledging Miss Chinaza directed that she will be sponsored by the State gpovernment through the Ministry of Education all through education career to the desired level. "In acknowledgement of this meritorious performance, I have directed the Honourable Commissioner for Education to forthwith ensure Imo State sponsorship of Miss Chinaza through her educational career to the desired level.
"I therefore, encourage other sons and daughters of Imo State to apply dedication and resilience in their academic pursuit for education remains the greatest empowerment for future development.
