Uzodimma's Mass Housing Revolution Mandate
By the end of the Calendar year, Imo State must have been transformed by the Infrastructural accomplishments of Governor Uzodinma's 3R Administration, especially in regards to his outstanding Mass Housing Manifesto.
In January 2022, He announced several Housing initiatives, some of which included the construction of over 500 Housing Units across the 3 Senatorial Zones of Imo State. These units were to be subdivided into Mega and Mini Estates. Some of these were exclusively designed for Civil Servants, especially with the retirees in mind. Also these Housing Units were to serve both Middle and low income Earners.
In a bid to actualise and consolidate on his promises, the Uzodinma Government, through the State Ministry of Housing actually announced that several Communities across the 3 Senatorial Zones have already begun to donate lands even as Funding institutions from the private sector have started to inject funding through strategic PPP Agreements.
With the target being to add at least 10,000 new homes within the next one year, the Government has moved ahead to begin negotiations with relevant institutions like the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) to initiate a plan of 100 Housing Units per Local Government Area as a means of fastracking and ensuring the speedy accomplishment of the mass housing objective.
With the help and partnership of the Federal Housing fund, the design of Over 300,000 Housing Units is expected to kick off in earnest. Moving forward, Forms have already been processed for Civil Servants who have already indicated interest in the home provisions. In a bid to relax the expectedly arduous conditions or demands Mortgage Plans have been put in place to ensure that this Civil Workers are able to benefit from the Government's Infrastructural initiative.
Conclusively, the Mass Housing Revolution Mandate is not a tongue-in-cheek Assertion, but a realistic and Achievable mandate which at upon completion, will leave an unforgettable landmark in the History of Imo's Housing Sector.
