Political Witch-hunting: ENTRACO Unlawfully Seals OZB Hotel in Owerri
OZB media team has reacted to the sealing of Peace Suites Hotel by the state Government.
In statement released by OZB media team, Imo Entraco should not unlawfully destroy, intimidate, witch hunt or frustrate businesses that employ hundreds of Imo citizens/residents.
According to them, statutory powers of Imo Entraco are properly stated in section 5 subsection i to xiii of the Imo State Environmental transformation Commission Law No.3 of 2008. The duty of Imo Entraco as spelt out are restricted to implementation of the Clean & Green Initiative, Environmental sanitation, sanitary inspection and waste
management.
Hence, it is unfortunate for Imo Entraco whose duties are far from recovery of government properties, allocation of lands or regulation of urban development to delve into these matters in broad daylight impunity.
The Land upon which Sweet Peace Suite is built is known as Plot BF/26 Area E New Owerri. This land was allocated to Late Prof. O. K. Ogan of Abia State in 1979. OZB Communications came into the land through the Trustees of Late Prof. O. K. Ogan (among whom are General T. Y. Danjuma, Prof. T. O Irukwu,SAN, etc). Plot BF/26 Area E was never part of Concorde Hotel. The base plan of Area E is there at the Imo State Surveyor General Office for all to see. Concorde Hotel has no land close to Plot BF/26 Area E.
They described sealing the premises as a shameless act because they sealed the property of OZB Communications Ltd without any court order.
Imo ENTRACO is yet to release a thorough media statement on the issue.
