Ozumba commissions Skills Acquisition center at Avu Mechanic Village
Imo State Commissioner of Labour and Productivity, Chief Prince Ford Ozumba today commissioned a skills acquisition center provided by the President of Artisans of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, Hon Dozie Julius Kennedy at the Avu Mechanic village.
The Honourable Commissioner while thanking Hon Dozie Kennedy and his lovely wife for the unequalled philanthropic gesture, encouraged other well meaning Imolites to take a leaf from him by always giving back to the society.
He noted that the importance of having more skills acquisition centers across the state can not be over emphasized. He said that such centers will help to curb the high level of unemployment in the state.
Chief Ozumba further said that the Avu Mechanic village skills acquisition center will train over 50 persons and end of their training, it is expected that they will in turn be employers of labour too, thereby reducing the unemployment rate in the state.
He commended His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo state, for working tirelessly to ensure that Industrious and business trive in the state so that Imolites will have work.
"I want to thank Hon Dozie Julius Kennedy and his beautiful wife for this. It shows that indeed, they have the people at heart. This gesture will definitely compliment what His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma 3R Administration is doing to reduce the unemployment level to its barest minimum" He said.
In his speech, the convener of the Skill of Hope Initiative and Special Adviser to the Governor on skill acquisition, Honorable Chidi Onyebuchi, thanked the commissioner immensely for taking time out of his busy schedule to Grace the opening of the skill center.
He pleaded with the Honorable Commissioner to plead on the governor to help the artisans develop the cluster as the place is in urgent need of road repairs, lights and water.
