The Oduezi @ Harritex House would be best described as a glamorous night of honour where men of high and mighty, friends, well wishers, sons and daughters from Owerri zone and the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma found solace to rest, rejoice, merry and celebrate with Chief Harritex Njoku, as his son Engr. Chukky Njoku Wedded his beautiful bride, Dr. Uzoaku Amadi, an Academic Health Giant who made Seven distinctions with commendations from the College of Health Science, Uyo as the best graduating student.
For those of us who grew up within the traditional Igbo society, we would best understand the significant symbol and need of Oduezi which is an ancient Igbo cultural practice where families, brothers, friends, associates and well wishers gather to celebrate, merry and tell stories before going to bed to rest and sleep.
Oduezi they say brings about unity, it is a time to share love and discuss, learn and listen, this is also a time for people to learn more about the History of their families, communities, the state and the nation at large. It is usually done at the evenings.
Gracing the Oduezi occasion @ Chief Henry Harritex Njoku's House was His Excellency, Sen Hope Uzodimma, who came on a brotherly visit with Sen Frank Ibezim, Rt Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, Hon Minister of State for Education, High Chief Tony Chukwu, the SSG, Imo State, Chief Comos Iwu, the Chief of Staff, Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie to show solidarity support to Harritex Njoku as a Jolly Good Fellow and friend of the state.
Governor Hope Uzodimma is a man of peace who understands the good virtue of having an Oduezi and the value it reflects in our cultures and traditions to maintain our believe system. The gathering was further utilized to discuss the welfare of imo people.
On behalf of the Owerri Zone Youths for Good Governance, we thank His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma for keeping this cultural value alive, the security of lives and properties, Peaceful and Harmonious Coexistence we enjoy in Imo state especially this Christmas season.
