As part of his Labour friendly disposition and commitment, the Special Adviser and General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr. Francis Chukwu on Friday received in Audience the entire State Executives of Almagamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) which is the umbrella Labour body that covers OCDA workers Union, led by the Chairman Comrade Emmanuel Metu.
Addressing the Labour leaders in his office at the Agency, Engr. Francis Chukwu noted that his commitment to ensuring industrial harmony and cordial working relationship with the Labour Union remains paramount and unwavering, adding that just as the Executive Governor of Imo State His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is committed to workers welfare, his OCDA led administration is paying dedicated attention to Workers welfare accordingly.
He used the forum to highlight some of the steps so far taken by his OCDA leadership towards bettering the welfare of the workers at the Agency, pointing out that the ride of celebration that was organized on Wednesday to mark the 2022 Workers Day by his OCDA led administration was borne out of the genuine desire to appreciate the efforts of the Management and Staff of Owerri Capital Development Authority towards moving the Agency forward.
The OCDA helmsman while expressing his profound gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for graciously appointing him to serve Imolites as the Special Adviser and General Manager of OCDA, emphasized that he clearly understands that no meaningful achievement will be achieved in a working environment where there is no industrial peace and tranquillity just as he assured that he will intensify efforts geared at actualizing the workers friendly policies in the pipeline.
In his response, the State Chairman of AUPCTRE Comrade Emmanuel Metu who was visibly delighted with the workers friendly programmes enumerated by the OCDA General Manager, announced that the State Executives of the Labour Union will package and confer an award on Engr. Francis Chukwu as the most Labour friendly Administrator in the State in appreciation of all that the OCDA helmsman has put in place so far to better the Welfare of workers at the Agency.
Comrade Metu while describing the Labour friendly disposition of Engr. Francis Chukwu as unprecedented, observed that many Administrators erroneously see Labour as antagonists instead of partners in progress even as he stressed that the OCDA General Manager has done wonderfully well by raising the bar of Establishment Administration and Labour relationship with the actions taken so far towards the workers welfare by Engr. Chukw
