OCDA gives deadline to street traders in owerri to vacate to major markets

Imo State government carried out a sensitization program yesterday 21 December, 2021 in owerri through the Owerri Capital development authority OCDA.

The program led by Eng Francis Chukwu was targeted at warning street traders to vacate into the major markets within Owerri.

Engr. Francis Chukwu educated the people on the need to make use of the major markets instead of clustering on the street, making the streets of owerri congested.

The authority gave till 10 January, 2022 as deadline before the enforcement, so that the traders will enjoy the Christmas season which comes with lots of buying and selling.

He also stated that the state government has already rehabilitated some of the major markets in Owerri and the State government is also doing everything possible to finish the Eke-Ukwu Owerri Market before the scheduled time. Noting that; 1200 lock-up shop complex at Eke_Ukwu is almost set.

Engr Francis also appreciate the street traders in owerri for the revenue they generate to the state government and also urge them to enter inside the market and continue their various business, not just for the beauty of the state but also for the health and safety of the traders. He also said that the market has enough space to contain all street traders in owerri
