NNPC and Total Energies donates Monograph Center to IMSUTH
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), Total Energies and its partners, have been commended for the mammography centre they built and donated to the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, (IMSUTH), Orlu.
The Chief Medical Director of IMSUTH, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwamba gave the commendation during the official commissioning and handing over of the mammography centre.
Dr. Nwamba said that the occasion marked a year and five months of his assumption of duty as the Chief Medical Director of Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu. He said the first structure that captured his attention on his first time in office was the ongoing project by Total Energies and its partners, the mammography centre which has been commissioned.
He said that with the completion of the project, Total Energies has demonstrated its sensibility towards women's health, in line with the present governments policy as represented in its 3R programme which the health sector has benefitted from immensely, adding that the centre will help mothers and girl child in early breast cancer detection which when diagnosed early is curable.
Earlier, Dr, Nwamba expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for believing in his capabilities, adding that the mammography center is a prototype being deployed across the different geo-political zones of the federation by NNPC, Total Energies and partners.
In his address, the Managing Director and Country Chair, Total Energies, whose address was presented by the General Manager, corporate social responsibility, Total Energies, EP, Nigeria Ltd, Mrs. Kenechi Esomeju, the Group General Manager NAPIMS represented by Mrs. Bunmi Lawson whose addresses was presented via zoom, urged the Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu to guide the project judiciously.
Present at the ceremony included, the Commissioner for Health. Dr. Prosper Success Ohayagha, who represented governor Hope Uzodimma, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Imo State University, Owerri, Prof.U.U Chukwumaeze, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor. Prof. Isidore Diala, the Registrar, Dr.J.U Osuagwu, the Dean, faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Louis Amazu, and other principal officers of Imo State University,Owerri.
Others included the Traditional Ruler of Umuna Ancient Kingdom, Eze Dr. Douglas Okwara, the Traditional Ruler of Owerre-Ebeiri,Eze George Uzoma, and their Uzo-Ubi Umuna counterpart, Eze B.C Okereke, who was represented by his Traditional Prime Minister.
