NAISS UNIPORT Chapter Host 'Health with Brain is Wealth' Event
The National Association of Imo State Students (NAISS) Uniport Chapter, Office of the Vice President on Wednesday held a program to sensitize the student community, especially members of NAISS UNIPORT chapter on the need to take their health seriously.
The program tagged 'Health with Brain is Wealth' had students from different states attend as the hall was full to it's brim.
Speaking at the occasion, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Olayinka Olusanya, a renowned Health expert, counselor and consultant admonished the students on the importance of taking their health seriously, he enumerated some safe healthy practices that students should put in place to have a very fulfilled lifestyle.
The father of the day and Dean, Student's Affairs of the University, Dr. Chima Wokocha also told the gathering to shun all vices that will be deteriorating to their health. Vices according to Dr. Wokocha includes; Smoking, intake of excessive alcohol, drugs and substances abuse. He reminded them of the saying that HEALTH IS WEALTH.
In her welcome speech, the Host of the event and the Vice President of NAISS UNIPORT CHAPTER, Comrade Durugo Peace Ekpereamaka thanked all for gracing the occasion. She went down memory lane on how drugs have hindered many youths from achieving their purpose in life. She noted that a HEALTHY MIND IS A PRODUCTIVE ONE.
Comrade Durugo said that the need to raise the students/Youths consciousness to their health necessitated her to organize the program.
The high point of the event was the Questions and Answers segment where the Guest Speaker took time to clear all the ambiguous statements of the students.
The event attracted dignitaries from various walks of life within and outside the University.
Speaking to our correspondents after the event, some students expressed happiness that the program held, they thanked Comrade Durugo for such a great initiative and promised to live better lives in order not to endanger their health.
Refreshments were also provided for participants of the epoch making event
