The traditional ruler of Etekwuru autonomous community in Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo state, Eze Kenneth Okereke, has raised alarm over continuous attacks by unknown gun men in the community. He called for more security presence in his abode in order to save his subjects.
Eze Kenneth made this known following a latest attack in the area on Wednesday, 8th of December,2021 which left two persons dead and others wounded. The assault was carried out by masked armed men who attacked in the early hours of the day.
The monarch has been on exile since October 21, when some hoodlums had attacked and burnt his palace, destroying his cars , including his official vehicle. It was alleged they wanted to kill him.
Properties worth millions of Naira were also destroyed and some set ablaze by the hoodlums before fleeing.
When Imoflash correspondent spoke to some residents of the area,they expressed shocked over the series of attacks and wondered why the once peaceful settlement has turned to a battle ground.
We gathered that there was great anxiety/ apprehensiveness in the area as the community witnessed increased security presence.
Recall that the October 21st attack on the palace of the traditional ruler came two days after some hoodlums and military men clashed in the community, leading to the killing of two soliders and youths
