The Traditional Ruler of Mbutu community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Damian Nwaigwe has been kidnapped by unknown gun men in his palace
Eze Nwaigwe was whisked away by gang of armed men in the early morning of Thursday.
Imoflash gathered that the men of the underworld shot sporadically to scare away intruders before going into the palace of the king.
There was visible anxiousness in the area when our correspondents visited the community. We also observed that there was increased security presence in and around the palace of the kidnaped monarch.
Residents and Indigenes of the community were seen in groups in the once peaceful settlement discussing the unfortunate incident.
Some of the residents expressed sadness over the incident. They described Eze Nwaigwe as a peace loving man and prayed for his quick and safe release.
“The palace of the king is built in an excluded place in the village,hence,the ease in his kidnap" A Villager told Imoflash.
Police spokesperson in the state, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the kidnap of the monarch and said that the command had swung into action intending to rescue the traditional ruler, unhurt.
