Sen. Hope Uzodinma, The Executive Governor of Imo State has stated that Government alone cannot provide enough jobs to accommodate the teaming unemployed youths in the State.
Governor Uzodinma said that the level of unemployment in the State necessitated his administration resolve to engage Industry actors in the bid to train Imo youths on skills acquisition in order for them to gain independence and create employment as well.
Uzodinma stated this during a prayer session organized by the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Communion to offer petition to the Almighty God for a spiritual solution to the insecurity confronting the Nation and Imo State in particular.
The Prayer summit which held at Ndubuisi Kanu's Square was attended by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma and other senior Imo State Government Officials.
The Faithful at the event prayed for God's intervention in resolution of the insecurity challenges witnessed across the Nation recently.
Speaking, the Governor commended the Archbishop, the Leadership and members of the Anglican Communion for the initiative to support the Government in the fight against insecurity exemplified by organising the event.
"I commend the Archbishop, the leadership and members of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Communion for the initiative to engage in a spiritual warfare against the insecurity issues confronting the Nation, South East and Imo State in particular as sponsored by those who leveraged on the high moral decadence and unemployment rate to engage our youths in the act of banditry and other related criminal activities.
"It's quite factual that Government alone cannot offer employment to the teaming unemployed youths and this has informed our engagement of Industry actors in the training and empowerment of our youths with various skills in order to gain independence and create employment as well. This however, has not deterred us from engaging the few we can having revitalized moribund Government commercial enterprises". Uzodinma Stated.
The Governor further called on the religious leaders to do more by reinforcing the traditional practice of religious moulding of the youths' moral upbringing, teachings of virtues of peace, love and fear of God in order to have the youths liberated from the shackles of the sponsors of these crimes.
He went on to call on all religious leaders to continue in their support to his administration, noting that the Lord would not let Imo State down. "I therefore, urge all other religious leaders, Christians and Muslims, to emulate this patriotism for the peace of our society"
