Imo Youths Commissioner resolves to further improve Welfare of NYSC Members
On Tuesday, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu warmly received the new State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Racheal O. Ideawor who paid him a courtesy and familiarisation visit in his office.
Hon. Ogu welcomed Mrs Ideawor to Imo state and assured her of a hospitable stay in the state. The commissioner attributed the improvement in the welfare of corps members to the commitment and dedication of Governor Hope Uzdoimma to the affairs of youths.
He noted that this commitment has led to the development and great improvement at the Imo NYSC orientation camp at Nkwerre LGA, thereby providing befitting accommodation for corps members and also ensuring their safety, among others things.
He promised that the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma will ensure that no stone is left unturned in its intent to make the atmosphere favourable and conducive for the corps members.
He appreciated the NYSC for its contributions to the development of the state through its various programmes and also the various skills acquisition taught to corps members, as it goes a long way in assisting and setting them up after the service year.
He assured that the Imo state government and the NYSC will continue to be partners in progress.
In her response, Mrs Iwealor thanked the Youth Chief for his warm reception and stated that she's happy with what she's seen on ground since her arrival and vowed to make Imo NYSC better than she met the scheme by the time she's done serving in Nigeria's Eastern Heartland. She urged the state government to also help with the challenges she and her team will have in the course of discharging of their duties.
The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Sir Chikezie Moses also welcomed the new NYSC Coordinator and assured her of the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a gift to the Commissioner by the Imo NYSC Coordinator.
