Imo state Indigene emerges best Graduating student as PCN inductes 102 members at UNIPORT

Ben- Njoku Chinyere Claire, a native of Amawo Mbutu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state emerged as the Best Graduating Student at the University of Port Harcourt, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences 10th Induction Ceremony held at the University's main campus (Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium) on the 8th of Nov, 2021.

Claire, who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average, CGPA of 4.36 had a look of ecstasy on her face when she was called to address the gathering on behalf of the inductees. She said though the Covid 19 pandemic prevented them from actualizing their dreams of graduating in 2020,they were very grateful that finally the induction had been held. She thanked her colleagues for always pushing her to achieve success.

She bagged numerous awards and recognitions from the Pharmacy faculty, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Mega Lifesciences Nigeria LTD and many other groups and organizations.

In his key note address earlier on, Pharm. Olumide Akintayo congratulated and charged the inductees to be of good behavior, he challenged them not to be lazy if they want to be successful in life, encouraging them to connect with seniors in the profession in order to attain unmatched heights in the world of pharmacy.

The Registry of PCN, Pharm Elijah Mohammed while administering the oath of practice, told the elated inductees that they are graduating from "School of Academy to the school of life, where there won't be lecturers but mentors and parents".

He urged them to get mentors in the field, that the greatest lessons they can learn will be the ones they teach themselves.

Prof Ogbonna Okorie, the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, presented the 102 members who have successfully gone through the rigorous experience of the pharmacy school for induction and the PCN registry admistered the oath subsequently.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Clifford Offurum thanked the PCN, PSN and the faculty of Pharmacy for training the newly inducted pharmacists, he also congratulated one of the inductees, Tekena George (who received the Faculty of Pharmacy Dean's award for examplary leadership service to the faculty).

Dr. S.E Ukwueze, associate Dean of the Pharmacy faculty gave the appreciation speech on behalf of the faculty.

The closing prayer was said by Pharm. Ugochi Ben Njoku, a visibly excited mother of the Best Graduating Student.
