The Imo State Government has given one week notice to all Road side Mechanics operating illegally in the city of Owerri, The state Capital to vacate the streets and go to Government designated Mechanics or risk their properties impounded and forcely ejected.
This warning was made by Engr. Francis Chukwu, SA/GM, OCDA, through a statement made to Newsmen, which Imoflash got. He said that Government will not fold her hands and watch the Road side mechanics continue to deface the city.
However, the statement did not say when the one week warning will start
Engr. Chukwu said "This is to inform the General Public that Imo State Government has observed with utter dismay the activities of Road Side Mechanics, who have continued to operate and carry out their daily business at various locations within Owerri metropolis, despite repeated directives by Government to move to the Imo State Government designated Mechanic village.
"It is paramount to note that these activities are not only illegal and defaulting but also go contrary to the 3R policy thrust of the State Governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma which has remained committed sanitizing and restoring the Owerri Capital City Master Plan.
"The State Government wishes to once again warn those that are into the business of Road Side fixing of Vehicles, to discontinue from this trend as it is capable creating avoidable fatalities on our roads and Government cannot fold its arms and allow such happen before swinging into action.
"To this end, the State Government, through Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), hereby issues a one week notice to all Road Side Mechanics to vacate Owerri Capital Territory or face their properties impounded and forcely ejected from the areas they are illegally operating.
"To be forewarned is to be foearmed!!!".
