Imo Specialist Hospital makes another major breakthrough under Governor Uzodimma - Performs 1st Brain Surgery.
The neurosurgery team at the government owned, Imo State Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, yesterday performed her first complex brain surgery, made possible with the commencement of ICU services in the hospital few weeks ago.
A massive Brain tumour (green arrows) basically occupying more than half of the right side of the brain in a 27 year old female and rendering her partially blind (can't read prints). She had complete removal of the tumour in our Neurosurgery theatre (red arrow) with no issues, fully awake after the surgery, speaking and moving all her limbs.
This major breakthrough is coming on the heels of other landmark achievements at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu, where over 100 medical students graduated under the Uzodimma administration after eleven years in the doldrums.
