Imo Community in disarray as Gunmen kills two Military officers, Military in reprisal burns Hotels and other properties in the area.

Awo Mmamma community in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State was in disarray Monday afternoon as Gunmen chased and killed two Military officers posted to the area.

Trouble started when the military officers accosted boys who were smoking Indian hemp in the community. The boys had a heated argument with the uniform men which led to pulling of trigger by the Soldiers on the boys.

The gunshots fired by the military on the boys couldn't penetrate, immediately the soldiers took to their heels and received a very hot chase by the boys who caught and killed two of them.

In reprisal, military men regrouped, stormed the town and allegedly burnt a hotel, cars, houses and shops.

The incident which happened at Ishieke junction in the area has caused panic in the community.

The community is deserted as we report, many have fled, soldiers have taken over the community.

An eye witness, Pajam narrated how the ugly incident went to our correspondent.

"It started today by 1pm when a friend of mine who owes a shop at Awo junction told me that her neighbour rushed to her and told her that she was there when soldiers came to interrogate some group of boys smoking weed. They started argument before the soldiers pulled the trigger on them, firing bullets on them, those boys started shouting ( bullet bu mmiri) , bullets couldn't penetrate, they chased the soldiers, collected their guns and shot 2 dead. Others escaped. After 30mins there was a sporadic gunshots coming towards Awo, everybody took their heels, numerous soldiers came to Awo and destroyed people's shops and buildings worth millions. As I am talking to you now no single soul is at Awo" Pajam narrated
