The Imo state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussani, has assured of adequate security coverage during the forthcoming campaign against Drug Abuse by DFWA themed 'Say no to Drug Abuse, Reach for the Stars and Future Heroes of our dear state Imo' scheduled to hold on the 26th and 27th of January 2022.
Mr Hussani made this known during Drug Abuse reach- out by representatives of DFWA at the State command Headquarter, Owerri. He specially thanked the team for looking inwards to save lives of Imo people.
He noted that drugs, especially the rave of the moment, Mkpurummiri is destroying the future of many of the youths of not just the state, but, the region at large, and promised to fully partner with the DFWA in her duty to control Drug Abuse.
Speaking earlier, the team lead and the Coordinator of DFWA, Hon. Lina Okereke, who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Health, highlighted some of the dangers associated with Drug abuse and it's negative and ugly influence in the society.
She told the commissioner of Police that several state medical teams are in collaboration with DFWA to make the event a success.
The state medical team includes but not limited to: The Chief Medical Director of Imo State Teaching Hospital Orlu (IMSUTH)- Dr Ifeanyi Nwamba, The Specialist Consultant, IMSUTH- Dr Chinyere Aguocha, Rev. Fr Gerald Njoku, The Director, Justice Development Peace and CARITAS, the Commissioner, Ministry of Health Dr Prosper Ohayagha , The Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Okwara, The Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Dr Stanley Emegwara, The Chairman, Medical Laboratory Association of Nigeria, Dr Leonard and other relevant bodies.
Present at the visit were Mr Andi Ihiegwara, Director of statistics, Ministry of Health, Chief Sixtus Ejimadu, The State Coordinator of Imo Health Volunteers and Mr Offor Davidson, State Publicity Secretary of DFWA and other senior Police officers.
