Governor Uzodimma outlines plans for the Imo Housing Sector
His Excellency, The Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma Explicitly Outlined Some Detailed Objectives of His Administration in Regards to the Housing Sector in Imo State. He made this Known While Delivering His Address at the Imo Stake Holders Meeting On Tuesday at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chambers.
While Highlighting some Achievements in the last 18 months, Governor Uzodinma Stated that Some Projects such as the renovation and furnishing of Pentagon (Governor's Office) Government House Had been Completed.
He further Stated that The Ten Blocks of the State Secretariat Have been re-roofed. Also renovation, Remodeling, road works, Landscaping, Have been Carried Out in Government House Premises. Furthermore, the Construction and Furnishing of a brand new Ultra Modern Executive Council Chambers had also been Completed.
According to him "In like manner, we have Completed the Construction of the Governor's Wife Office, Armoury, and Ancillary Buildings at Government House. A befitting Banquet Hall Has Also been built and furnished in Government House. Other Projects include the Renovation and Furnishing of a Brand New Official Residence of the Commissioner of Police".
The Ministry Of Housing Chaired by the Honorable Commissioner, Lady. Dr Love Ineh under His Administration Has Facilitated Arrangements for a Mass Housing Programme to Provide affordable Shelter for a majority of Imo People under a Public Private Partnership Arrangement. (PPPA). The Housing estates will be sited in the three Senatorial Zones of Okigwe, Owerri and Orlu. To this End, the Government had begun the Acquisition of lands and necessary Designs Needed for the Execution of the projects.
In Regards to The Construction of Housing Units for Civil Servants, Governor Uzodinma Stated that an Estate is Currently Being Designed For Imo workers under a Mortgage Arrangement. "We believe that providing such an Estate will save our Workers the Agony of retiring from service without a Home of their Own".
Accordingly, He remarked that the Government Through the Ministry of Housing Has Embarked on the Total renovation and furnishing of the Imo State House of Assembly Main Building Built by the Mbakwe Administration and abandoned for the past 10 Years.
