Government committed to providing enabling environment for Artisans to thrive- Ozumba

The Imo State Commissioner of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Chief Ford Ozumba has reiterated his Ministry's commitment to ensuring enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State. Chief Ford Ozumba made this known when he played host to representatives of Imo State Artisans Congress in his office.

Represented by his Technical Adviser, Mr Nkem Nze, Ozumba noted that the essence of the meeting was among other things to foster harmony and enhance confidence in advancing Artisans' aspirations while liaising with relevant organisations for financial and technical supports for economic growth in the State.

He said that the State government through his Ministry is eager to address their lingering challenges.

He expressed confidence in partnering with the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) in helping Artisans in the State; while building and working with a comprehensive database of eligible artisans. He looks forward to participating in a proposed business meeting between CBN and the Artisan community.

Speaking, the president of Imo state Artisans Congress (ISAC), Hon. Dozie Julius, called on members present to give the Honourable Commissioner the benefit of doubt in his bid to carry out his wonderful plans for ISAC. He lamented that previous governments failed in their promises to the artisans council.

Grand Patron to Imo state Artisans Congress, Chief Patrick Ugwuegbu and the Orlu Zonal chairman of ISAC, Chief Igwe Kingsley Ofoma in their various speeches, called on the Ministry to mediate on their behalf as regards the loans and grants from CBN. They pledged their support to work with Honourable Commissioner, Chief Ford Ozumba.

The Honourable Commissioner mentioned the planned ENTREPRENEURS PRODUCTS EXHIBITION as one of his Ministry's proposed programmes for the Artisan Community.

Chief Ford Ozumba announced that his door is always open to the Artisan Community and also thanked the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma for approving the Exhibition.

Present in the meeting were Special Adviser to the governor on Skills Acquisition, Hon Chidi Onyebuchi, Deputy Director and Head of Department, Productivity Mrs Ugweoha Dorathy, HOD of Entrepreneurship, Ekomaru K.J, HOD, Skills Acquisition, Mrs. Amaka Umeh U.O, HOD, Accounts, Mrs. Anozie G.O, HOD, Procurement, Mrs. Amadi Lilian and HOD, Research, Planning and Statistics, Mrs. Njiribeako Nnenna.
