FUTO VC seeks Cooperation with Host Communities

In her usual style of extending hand of fellowship to all-concerned stakeholders of the FUTO Community, on 29th March 2022, the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti paid a courtesy visit to the people of Okolochi Autonomous Community at the Palace of the Traditional Ruler.
It's noteworthy that Okolochi is one of the host communities of the revered University. The workaholic VC, who was accompanied by other Principal Officers of the University, said first and foremost, she was on a familiarization visit to the community.
Prof. Oti used the medium to intimate the people on the proposed Land Development billed to take place at the University land situated within the Okolochi Community, to be powered by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
According to the boss who is the First Female VC among all Universities of Technology across Nigeria, the Agricultural Project would have the people of the Community as its workers/labourers, hence was targeted to be of great benefit to the indigenes.
She therefore called on the Leaders of the Community to ensure the needed cooperation and safety are granted to the impending project when established. It could be recalled that on 14th March 2022, the NALDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the FUTO Management on Agricultural Land Development.
While responding, the Royal Father of the Community, HRH Eze Sir Christopher Amadi specially appreciated the VC for finding time to visit the people of Okolochi amidst her busy schedule.
Eze Amadi, who was obviously filled with immense joy, disclosed that it was historic for an incumbent VC of FUTO to call on the Community since the inception of the University, hence thanked Prof Oti's administration for carrying the people of the area along.
The Traditional Ruler further assured the VC and her team the needed maximum cooperation and security, stating the people of Okolochi had hitherto been known as peace-loving and accommodating.
In his Vote of Thanks, the President General (PG) of the Community, Dr. Charles Nkwocha immensely commended the VC for her "large heart".
Dr. Nkwocha, who supported that it was epochal seeing the physical presence of a serving FUTO VC in the Community, informed the gathering that Okolochi had never recorded any bad record in the entire Owerri-West LGA as regards security, hence promised unalloyed support of his people.
