In her genuine quest to ensure adequate security in the entire FUTO Community as well as cordial working relationship between the Police and the University, the workaholic Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti graciously met with the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Hussaini Rabiu on Thursday, 16th December 2021 during the working hours.
The meeting, which took place at the Police Headquarters situated in Owerri, the Imo capital city, registered the presence of the workaholic VC alongside other Principal Officers coupled with the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the University.
The Eighth Substantive and first female VC of FUTO, Prof. Oti whose father was a military personnel, began her speech by informing the audience that she originated from a Force background, hence understood the daily gallant tasks of the Police Force.
She disclosed her team had come to familiarize with the Imo Police Command under the watch of CP Rabiu as well as show solidarity.
Prof. Oti therefore appealed to the CP to register the name of the University in the Police's security gazette, saying "whenever we call on you, please answer us."
On his part, CP Rabiu who couldn't hide his joy over the visit, disclosed he was so elated when he heard the FUTO Management led by the VC was coming to meet with him in the office.
He went further to strongly assure the VC who was flanked by her team that the Command would remain a Partner-in-Progress with FUTO come rain, come shine.
The CP who used the opportunity to recall that he served at Zamfara State where crime was seriously ravaging everywhere therein, hence stated he was sent to Imo State to get things right pertaining to security issues.
He therefore tendered "I will always respond without hesitation whenever I receive your call", as he enjoined the VC not to hesitate in calling them whenever their services were needed.
The highpoint of the epochal meeting was Signing of the Command's High-Profile Attendance Register by the VC, Prof. Nnenna Oti.
