The Special Adviser to the Governor/General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr. Francis Chukwu has given an assurance of the readiness of the Agency to consolidate on the existing working partnership between OCDA and Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) while identifying other areas that need further partnership.
He made this known while playing host to the Vice Chancellor of FUTO Professor Mrs Nnenna Otti when she led a delegation of the FUTO Management on a courtesy visit to OCDA today.
Engr. Chukwu who expressed gratitude to the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for appointing him as OCDA General Manager, noted that his OCDA led administration runs an open door policy that will always welcome and extensively consider ideas that will help in bettering the activities of the Agency.
The Governor's Aide hinted that already OCDA under his watch has commenced collaboration with FUTO, pointing out that it was the collaboration that facilitated the invitation of two erudite Professors from FUTO to lecture the newly appointed Revenue Collection, Debt Recovery and Special Taskforces Agents by the Agency, during their inauguration a forthnight ago.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of FUTO Professor Nnenna Otti lauded the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for his support to the tertiary institution so far especially in settling various issues bordering on land dispute at the site of the proposed FUTO teaching hospital, noting that FUTO as an institution has not enjoyed a more cordial relationship with Imo State Government than the one currently existing under Governor Uzodimma.
Professor Otti however decried what she described as illegal building of structures on plots of land owned by FUTO, wondering how the owners got approval to erect such structures. She appealed to the OCDA GM to beam his search light on the issue of alleged illegal building of structures ,stressing that it will go a long way in addressing the perennial issue of land disputes between FUTO and some members of the host communities.
