Electronic Receipts introduced to curb Corruption - Engr. Francis Chukwu
The Special Adviser/General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority OCDA Engr. Francis Chukwu has explained that his OCDA led administration introduced Electronic Receipts with Micro Chips in order to curtail fraud and falsification of receipts, adding that upon assumption of office, he suspended the issuance of old receipts, stopped collection of statutory payments using POS and inter-switch and directed that all statutory payments should go through the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the State Government.
He made the explanation today when he featured as a Special Guest on the Hot 99.5 FM Owerri Audience Participatory Program People's Assembly. The OCDA General Manager noted that since he came on board in less than 3 months, Owerri Capital Development Authority as an Agency has recorded a good number of positive changes including increment in the revenue generating profile of the Agency, pointing out that he has continued to consolidate on areas strength of his predecessor while identifying grey areas and addressing the needed issues.
While expressing his gratitude to the the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for appointing him as the General Manager of OCDA, Engr. Chukwu re-echoed that Governor Uzodinma gave him the mandate to sanitize and restore public confidence in OCDA.
The OCDA helmsman who enumerated his activities including personally interviewing the various Consultants that were engaged by the Agency to entrench trasparency in the process of their selection, organizing Capacity Building Workshop for the Management and Staff of the Agency, organizing an Owerri Capital City wide Awarness Campaign tagged Operation Reclaim Owerri Capital Territory from Shanties and Street trading among others, stressed that he has been interfacing with various collaborating Agencies of OCDA including security operatives in order to ensure effective working synergy between OCDA and the Agencies at all times.
The Governor's Aide expressed the hope that with the numerous people oriented programmes, policies and projects both completed and ongoing by the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma Imo State will experience enduring development in all sectors in shortest possible time.
On the recently demolished Pedestrian flyover at Emmanuel College Wetheral road, Engr. Chukwu hinted that the Flyover failed integrity test conducted by Professional Body of Engineers who satisfied it as a danger to Students and Imolites at large.
Regular callers on the Radio show Chief Awolowo Nkwodede, Chief Jude Ugboaja,Pastor Chinedu Nnadi and others poured encomiums on the OCDA General Manager for his vision and innovation at the Agency just as they applauded Governor Uzondimma for recovering assests belonging to Imolites.
