Ejezie Izuogu Announces the burial program of HRH Eze M.O. Kanu
The traditional council of Ndi-Ejezie and family members of HRH Eze M.O. Kanu has officially fixed November 16th to 27th for the burial program of the revered monarch.
HRH Eze (Dr.) Maxwell Omeire Kanu (Ochiriozuo 1 of Ejezie Izuogu), businessman and traditional ruler of Ejezie Autonomous Community in Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, was born on the 12th day of April 1932. A native of Ndiejezie, Arondizuogu, Ochiriozuo is an astute businessman whose empire cuts across several sectors of the economy. He is Chairman of Agura Hotels Ltd; M.O. Kanu and Sons; Omire Pharmaceuticals; Fasal Services Ltd etc.
He built a blood bank transfusion centre at the General Hospital, Aba. He was a member of many associations as well as a recipient of many accolades, awards and titles. Ochiriozuo passed on Sunday 12th January 2020 at the age of 88 years.
According to a release by the Family made available to Imoflash, his funeral arrangement has been scheduled to take place as follows;
I. Thursday 16th Nov. 2021- 5pm: Night of tributes at St. James Anlican Church Haile Salassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja, FCT.
II. Wednesday 17th Nov., 2021 - 7am: body leaves National hospital to Agura Hotels Abuja en-route to Asaba, Delta State.
III. Wednesday 24th Nov, 2021- 10am: Flag stop at M. O. Kanu blood bank, general hospital, Aba, Abia State. 11am: Flag stop at Ochiriozuo’s house 62/64 Ehi Asa road Aba, Abia State 2pm: Reception by APU and Aba business community at his residence No. 4 Sir M.O. Kanu drive, GRA, Aba, Abia State. 3pm: Commendation service at St. Michael Cathedral, Aba, Abia State. 4:30pm: Body lays in state at Ochiriozuo Palace Aba
IV. Thursday 25th Nov, 2021- 7am: body leaves Ochiriozuo’s Palace Aba en-route to Arondizuogu for vigil and laying in State at Ochiriozuo’s palace. 2pm: Body is received at Obi Izuogu, Eze Izuogu's Palace, Ndiawa, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State. 3pm: Reception at Obi Ejezie by Eze in Council 4pm: Reception at Obi Kanu. 5pm: Body arrives at his Palace 5pm - 7pm: Christian wake keep at his Palace in Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.
V. Friday 26th Nov, 2021- 7:30am – 9:30am: Body lays in State at his Palace 9:40am: Flag stop at St. Philips Anglican Church, Ejezie, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State. 10:30am: Burial service at Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ndiawa, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State followed by interment. 2pm – 6pm: Condolence visits
VI. Saturday 27th Nov, 2021- Condolence visit
VII. Sunday 28th Nov, 2021 – 9am: Outing service at St. Philips Anglican Church, Ejezie Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.
As directed by the family all the programs will be carried out in line with necessary COVID-19 protocol. This was made public and signed by Mazi Prince Obioha G.M. Kanu (Ogbuehi Ezeagu Ndi-GBO) on behalf of the Eze in Council and the Khamanu Royal Family.
