Owerri, The Capital of Imo state stood still on Wednesday, 26th day of January,2022 as Drug Free World Africa DFWA, in conjunction with the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Health, Hon. Dr Lina Okereke held a massive rally with a colossal amount of people from different walks of life in attendance.

The rally which start off point was the Imo International Conference Center IICC, was extremely colourful as seasoned professionals participating in the fight against drug Abuse danced to the very melodious sounds preaching along against the menace of Drug Abuse.

The walk went through roads and streets of Owerri city with the mammoth crowd that was in the Campaign train.

Flyers, journals and other materials, from Drug free World African President in London were shared to Imolites who were in a joyful mood.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Lina Okereke noted that the reason for organizing the event was to see that the abuse of Drugs and other illicit substances were reduced to the barest minimum. She called on parents to always monitor their children so as to always know when they are about going astray.

Dr Okereke further said that Religious bodies, Schools and Governments at all levels must put heads together to stamp out drugs abuse. She advised the youths that the intake of drugs will eventually damage their body systems thereby, leaving them hopeless in the future.

On the rally train were Youths from different LGAs, Communities, Organizations, Students of Various Tertiary and Secondary institutions, Nigerian Medical Association Imo State, Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigerian, NYSC members, Imo Health Volunteers, members of the press, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Officers, National Leaders of Nigerian Patriotic Citizens for Democracy & Attitudinal Change (NIPACDAC), Current Queen of Imo State University and many others too numerous to mention.
