Despite Cancellation of Sit -at-Home, Activities were tedious in various parts of Imo state on Friday

Economic and Socio-Cultural activities were tedious in various parts of Imo state on Friday, this is despite the cancellation of the Sit -at-Home called by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB late Thursday evening.

Our correspondents who closely monitored the situation in various parts of Imo state on Friday, gathered that major streets, markets,parks, Restaurants, offices were closed for business on Friday.

Most schools were also under lock and key as most parents have taken their children home from the various school hostels.

A visit to the state secretariat showed that eventually all the offices were closed. Not left out in the boycott of activities on Friday were major markets and business offices.

Some of the persons who spoke to Imoflash, said that they had already prepared for the worst, they however were grateful and happy that the Sit-at-Home has been called off to enable them move around.

There was increase in sales on Thursday evening as residents made frantic efforts to stockpile for the period the Sit-at-Home was meant to last. It made goods very expensive as traders added more money to prices of commodities.

A business owner, Issac Okafor who spoke to us said that the slow in activities on Friday might be connected to the fact that the cancellation was announced late as most persons have made preparations to stay put at home. He expressed hope that from Saturday, activities will resume.Most youths were seen on the streets playing football and engaging in other socio activities.
