An officer of Nigeria secret service agency, Department of State Services, DSS, Mr Prince Nwachinaemere Ezemuonye Ozuzu, who was a native of Umuoyo, Irete in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State was shot dead in Owerri, capital of Imo state.
The unfortunate incident happened along the ever busy Owerri-Onitsha Road.
Mr Prince Nwachinaemere was killed less than 48 hours after gunmen burnt the DSS office in Nnewi, Anambra State. He was on his way to his station from Anambra state where he went for an official duty.
A family member of the deceased, Mr Daniel Opara, who confirmed the incident said that “We are yet to get the details of what actually happened as it was alleged that he was killed from an accidental discharge from the gun of a police officer attached to his colleagues with whom he was on a Joint Task Force on an assignment to Anambra State".
He however said that the family is seriously suspecting a foul play in Officer Prince's death.
Another account said a bullet mistakenly fired by one of his colleagues was said to have hit him.
The family is suspecting foulplay as he was said to have been recently promoted.
“He joined the service about four to five years ago and was married with four children.”
