Contractors charged to speed up work on Monumental Projects
Contractors handling some monumental projects in the state have been enjoined to speed up the work to ensure early completion of their job.
The Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Lady Love Ineh gave the charge during an inspection tour to some of the monumental projects, including ongoing renovation of Imo state House of Assembly Complex.
The commissioner who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Lady Hope Anyiam stated that the inspection tour was to assess the level of progress achieved by the contractors, pointed out that the State Government was determined to ensure completion of the renovation on record time.
Ineh, however Commended the PUNZ Construction Limited in charge of the renovation for the level of progress achieved so far. She further reminded the contractor of the need to be dedicated and advised the contractor to protect the work at each stage of progress .
Responding the contractor of PUNZ LTD, Engr.Austin Uzor commended the commissioner and her team for the meticulous and frequent inspection on the site. He assured the commissioner that the company had facilities and skilled personnel to deliver a good and timely job.
The progress of work is as follows; Installation of a modern and sustainable ceiling material known as plaster board (in progress ), Construction of a lift to the complex as a modern initiative in progress, Installation of Modern sustainable roof fascia board known as Aluminum composite material, Use of high quality granite tiles as some high traffic floor areas, Supply of high quality lift machine (OTIS) product awaiting installation, Ceiling work is completed at the hallowed chamber and the corridor around the chamber.
The Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary were accompanied by the HOD, Architectural Designs, Arc.Kelechi Umeh, HOD, Bilding Department, Bldr D.O Dike, HOD, Quality Survey, Surv Dennis Ihezie amongst others .
