Christ the king Catholic Chaplaincy Church, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri on Sunday, February 6th 2022 inaugurated members of their Chaplaincy Pastoral council that will oversee the affairs of the church for the next four years.
While inaugurating the Chaplaincy Pastoral council members, the Chaplain of CKC, Owerri, Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Edward Ohajunwa thanked them for accepting to serve the Lord Jesus Christ through their various roles in the Council.
He charged them to see their appointment/election as a call to duty, enjoining them to work assiduously to ensure that the Chaplaincy is dedicated within the shortest time possible. He amongst others urged them to put the welfare of the Chaplaincy members on the front burner.
Highlights of the brief inauguration was the symbolic lighting of candles by every member of the council, General prayers were offered by the worshipping congregation on the Council Members.
Speaking to Imoflash correspondent after the inauguration, the visibly elated Chairman of the Pastoral council, Sir Clinton ogu, said that the appointment came to him as a surprise, and expressed his willingness to work for the betterment of the Chaplaincy.
On what to expect from his administration,Sir Ogu said " Like the Priest said, the biggest responsibility we have as a council is to make sure that the spiritual well - being of the members of the Chaplaincy is further encouraged and secondly ,to work towards the dedication of the Chaplaincy Church.
" We will be rolling out a lot of programs like reaching out to some of our members that have not been coming to church due to sickness or age and see how we can be of great assistance to them".
He described the Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Edward Ohajunwa as as a very goal oriented priest, who is focused and spiritually driven and loves the development of the church.
Key Council Members inaugurated includes, Sir Clinton Ogu as the Chairman, Sir Tony Ndudom as the Secretary, Lady Ada Nwaigwe, the Finance Coordinator, Dr C.C. Chima, Sir Chinedu Uwakwe, Dr Mrs. Jovita Ogu, Engr. Daniel Chukwuezi, Dr Sunday Akor, Sir Chibueze Okere, Lady Ebere Akandu and Barr. Mrs. Eucharia Ezerioha as members.
It was also an opportunity to inaugurate the various executives of the different sodalities in the Chaplaincy. The Catholic Women Organization with Lady Chioma Emedom as President and Dr Mrs Eunice Ahanotu as Secretary. The Catholic Men Organization has Sir Ikechukwu Osuji as Chairman and Sir John Lawrence Aharanwa as Secretary. Other sodalities were also included.
The Chaplaincy Church was aglow with smiles and joy from the people in the church.
